As people who were born and raised in Lebanon, we have grown up hearing constant talk of problems. It would be safe to assume that this extends to most individuals in the MENA region.
It's time we begin talking about solutions. Solutions start with student empowerment at every level. For us multidisciplinary students at the American University of Beirut, our mechanism for empowerment is embodied in the newly founded Beirut Political Review.
The brain drain that Lebanon has been suffering for decades due to conflict and instability will not stop until we have local forums for talent and knowledge production. Students suffer broadly from inaccessibility to larger more privileged institutions and thus do not have an option to showcase their expertise and potential.
The Beirut Political Review aims to bridge that gap to arm students with the necessary skills in policy research and develop their overall political maturity in a deeply divided country. Through no shortage of effort and diligence, our nascent team will chart a course to fill the knowledge vacuum that has for too long pervaded our part of the world.
Let's set the example together.
